"I had the incredible privilege of having Theanna as my doula for my second pregnancy and birth. After having my oldest daughter I knew I needed a different type of birth experience. My hospital birth with her while uncomplicated, was less than ideal in all ways possible and I did not want to go through that again with future deliveries. Because of this, I knew two things were at the top of my list. 1- find a personable prenatal care provider and 2- find a doula to support and advocate for me when needed. Both of which I found, and both of which exceeded my wildest dreams for a perfect birth. I started my prenatal care with Seven Sisters Midwifery and Birth Center as soon as I found out I was expecting. I had found Seven Sisters online the year prior when my sister was expecting and the second I saw the website I knew I needed to have my next baby there. At my first visit they gave me an information packet with a ton of resources, one being how to find a doula! They recommended looking at the Green River Doula Network, which is where I saw Theanna's profile. I knew right away I wanted to connect with her to see if it would be a good fit. We chatted and went over my birth expectations and wants and we clicked immediately! I was so thankful she was able to take me on as a client! We connected very early in my pregnancy, having her there for support through every trimester was amazing. Being able to text to chat whenever needed and having monthly meetings was so so helpful. It meant the world to me to be able to get to know each person that was part of my birth team over the course of my entire pregnancy. I cannot honestly tell you the name of one person that was in the room during my first daughter's birth, whereas that is the complete opposite case for my second daughter's birth. During labor events unfolded QUICKLY, and Theanna was on the ball the whole time. She responded super quick and got to me fast and furious once we determined baby was making their entrance sooner than we thought. Theanna was there through every single contraction providing counter pressure, offering fluids, and continuously reassuring me how well I was doing. I absolutely could not have made it through my unmedicated delivery without her. Her calm demeanor and helpful reassurance was exactly what I needed to make it through the pain and focus on my baby coming earthside. My husband also very much appreciated being able to focus on holding my hand, staying in contact with loved ones, and providing emotional support without having so much pressure to do everything else at once while I was laboring. He was able to enjoy the moment more and appreciate his baby being born rather than be overwhelmed with all of the support tasks. Having Theanna there as our doula was an absolute game changer and I would recommend to anybody hiring a doula, to work with her."
